ATEN’s KE8220 eliminates distance limitations, upgrades existing projectors and takes meetings to the next level.
The KE8220 Virtual VNC Console from its ALTUSEN product line upgrades existing projectors and generates a cable-free conference environment for multiple presentations.
The KE8220 also allows remote access of PowerPoint presentations, images, and other applications via LAN, WAN, or the Internet for real-time display on a projector or monitor.

The KE8220 delivers PowerPoint presentations, images, and applications from desktop PCs or notebooks to projectors, LCD panels, monitors or other display devices with standard VGA connectors, and supports SXGA display resolution (1280 x 1024 at 60Hz). With the Wireless-G USB Adapter, the KE8220 transmits data over a secure high-speed 802.11b/g wireless connection at speeds of up to 54Mbps with 64-, 128- and 256-bit WEP encryption.
The executable ALTUSEN VNC software is directly downloadable from the KE8220-no installation is required. It allows every meeting participant to switch focus between their computers seamlessly with a single mouse-click.

In other developments, Belkin International. has purchased a license to the Alliacense CORE Flash Patent Portfolio.
“This agreement with Belkin means we now have five CORE Flash program partners including IOGEAR, Mace Group, EDGE Tech and Brookstone,” stated Bruce Sanderson, VP of Licensing for Alliacense. “We are very pleased with the program’s demonstrated appeal to the marketplace.”
Alliacense created the CORE Flash Portfolio Licensing Program to serve leading system manufacturers and marketers of consumer electronics, computer systems, and printers, as well as retail digital photofinishing service providers, according to Sanderson.
He also stated that licensing discussions are progressing with many major system manufacturers and marketers worldwide.
The CORE Flash Portfolio contains intellectual property that was developed and productized by The TPL Group’s OnSpec Division. The portfolio includes 16 U.S. and international patents and 13 patent applications. CORE Flash Portfolio innovations protect key aspects of flash memory management and control, including software, firmware, hardware, and mechanical designs.
Belkin International has announced that the US International Trade Commission (ITC), in a Notice of Commission Determination issued on February 8, 2008, ruled that Belkin did not infringe Aten’s patent (U.S. Pat. No. 7,035,112) and that Belkin did not violate the trade statute.
At Aten’s request, the ITC initiated an investigation against Belkin in December 2006. Aten claimed several Belkin KVM switches infringed on their patent. In November 2007, an ITC administrative law judge ruled in Belkin’s favor, finding no violation by Belkin.
The investigation has now been terminated by the ITC.
