Thecus M3800’s design concept is centered on the home theater

     For video playback, the M3800 supports WMV9, WMVHD, AVI, MPG, VOB, and MP4 up to a resolution of 1080p. Supported audio formats include MP3, WMA, AAC, PCM, and M4A. The M3800 is the currently the only 3-bay NAS device with home theater video and audio sharing functionality.
     The M3800 supports RAID 5 for excellent data security, and adds wireless capability to allow all users throughout the house to enjoy stored media anytime they please.

Compal to produce 300,000 Olevia LCD HDTVs

     Syntax-Brillian (www.syntaxbrillian.com) has formed a strategic contract manufacturing partnership with Compal Electronics, the world’s second largest producer of laptop PCs for Tier One global partners. Under the terms of the agreement, Compal will immediately begin manufacturing an initial order for 300,000 Olevia LCD HDTVs at its two-million square foot production facilities in Kunshan, China. In addition to providing assembly, testing and quality control services.
     Compal’s procurement team will be responsible for sourcing and securing the LCD panels used to produce Olevia LCD HDTVs.
     Taiwan Kolin (www.kolin.com.tw), a key strategic alliance partner of Syntax-Brillian’s since the company’s inception, will continue to leverage its substantial network of suppliers to assist Compal in acquiring all other key components used to manufacture Olevia LCD HDTVs.
     DigiMedia Technology Company, a subsidiary of Taiwan Kolin and co-developer with Syntax-Brillian of Olevia LCD HDTVs’ patented technology, will expand their responsibilities to support Compal with engineering support and manufacturing continuity.

     Syntax-Brillian has issued a statement in response to a forfeiture order issued by the Federal Communications Commission concluding that the company violated the digital television rule concerning the importation and interstate shipment of analog televisions.
     As part of the order, the FCC has fined the company $1.266 million, a reduction from the initial fine of USD2.9 million proposed in the agency’s May 2007 original Notice of Apparent Liability.
     The company said that it was disappointed with, and intends to seek further review of the FCC action.
