New dimensions for the Internet radio
Long before the Internet radio became a household word, Joybien Technologies (www.joybien.com) has been bringing marketable solutions that not only excelled in sound quality, but was also reasonably priced and easy for the computer illiterate to operate. In fact, the Internet radio from ASUS seen at CeBIT was similar in style to the one Joybien designed for the European market three years ago.
This year at CeBIT Joybien’s main goal was to offer its technical expertise and manufacturing resources to clients wanting to develop Internet radios designed for their specific market sectors. In terms of audio quality, the company has tweaked the rendition that few other mass market models can match.
At the company’s booth in Hall 21 this year, Joybien exhibited its popular World Radio WR101, WR201 and W301 models, as well as several other designs with and without integrated speakers.
According to Larry Hsieh, the company offers total OEm/ODM solutions, from modules to finished products. “Buyers with manufacturing sources of their own, will be able to cut costs with the technical assistance provided by us. We believe that highly individualized designs will bring value-added compensation to those who come up with the right designs,” Hsien said.
To emphasize this concept, the company showed a prototype wireless mobile version in preparation when broadband wireless access with become available nearly everywhere. Like a handbag, the prototype comes with a handle for easy carrying. Hsien pointed out the the design was developed by a design team from Italy.
For home users that would like to wake up to Internet programs from around the world, the wireless WR301 is a good solution, as it fits well into the decor of the bedroom.
For the young generation, the brightly colored WR101 allows users to listen to more than 10,000 Internet radio stations worldwide. Users can configure Internet connectivity via wired Ethernet or wireless Wi-Fi and maintain up to three different customized network configurations. The radio is operated through the intuitive front panel control or through the full featured remote control.
As with all Joybien models, The radio station list is automatically updated from vTuner Internet Portal, which also allowes 20 more customized radio stations playlists to be allows.
The WR101 also supports UPnP client for listening to music stored on UPnP media server, and comes with English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish language selection.
For larger venues
Vunex Technology Corp. at CeBIT talked with clients about their DrumiA IR-322W WiFi-supporting Internet radio.
