GIGABYTE extends Ultra Durable 2 line with Radeon HD 3800 graphics cards

GIGABYTE UNITED INC., a leading manufacturer of motherboards and graphics cards, has announced their latest GV-RX38 Series graphics cards.
The GV-RX387512H and GV-RX385512H are built on the highly anticipated ATI Radeon HD 3800 Series GPU----which utilizes the very latest 55 nanometer graphics processing technology, providing maximum performance and setting new clock speed and memory speed records for tomorrow’s demanding applications, while utilizing less power than previous generation graphics technologies.
Featuring PCI Express 2.0 support and DirectX 10.1 GPU, the GIGABYTE GV-RX38 Series are designed with GIGABYTE Ultra Durable 2 Technology, which continues to lead the industry for top quality component design.
The GIGABYTE GV-RX38 Series graphics cards are able to deliver higher 2D and 3D graphics performance and offers features enthusiasts have been waiting for.
The GIGABYTE GV-RX387512H and GV-RX385512H are equipped with 512MB of 256-bit GDDR3 memory and feature PCI Express 2.0 compatibility with up to twice the throughput of current PCI Express cards.
The GIGABYTE GV-RX38 Series also allows for easy ATI CrossFireX scalability, providing high bandwidth multi-GPU interconnectivity to enhance graphics rendering and turbo-charge your 3D performance.
In addition, built-in HDMI and 5.1 surround audio is supported for the playing of HDCP content protected media including Blu-ray and HD DVD.
Equipped with the world’s latest DirectX 10.1 GPU, the GIGABYTE GV-RX38 Series extends the scope of a GPU beyond traditional graphics to support Shader Model 4.1 for life-like realism and stunning 3D gaming effects, allowing users to completely immerse themselves in a total HD gaming experience. Wanting gamers to experience the full power of the GV-RX387512H and GV-RX385512H, GIGABYTE also includes the popular role-playing game Neverwinter Nights 2.
The GIGABYTE GV-RX38 Series is leading the industry for top quality design by featuring GIGAYTE’s unique Ultra Durable 2 Technology.
With highly efficient components such as ferrite core choke coils, low RDS(on) MOSFETs and all Japanese manufactured SMD mounted solid capacitors, GIGABYTE Ultra Durable 2 graphics cards ensure the highest levels of reliability and stability, cooler working temperatures and enhanced overclocking capabilities for today’s high performance, high definition platforms.
A MOSFET (Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor) is a switch that allows or stops electric current to pass through an electric circuit.
GIGABYTE Ultra Durable 2 graphics cards utilize Lower RDS(on) MOSFETs. These differ from regular MOSFETS in that they are specially designed to produce lower switching resistance and utilize lower power consumption. The result is faster electric current charging and discharging and less heat generation.
If the MOSFET is in the “on” state, the current will then flow to the choke. A choke is an inductor that stores energy and regulates current. Choke coils help to prevent Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) from the power supply from interfering with the power circuit.
Instead of using the traditional iron core chokes, GIGABYTE Ultra Durable 2 graphics cards feature Ferrite Chokes that are comprised of a compound of iron-oxide and other metal elements. These metal properties hold energy much longer than common iron-core chokes at high frequency, resulting in lower power loss.
From the choke, the current then passes through a capacitor. The capacitor stores electricity and delivers it to the component requiring power such as the GPU. GIGABYTE uses all Solid Capacitors to deliver maximum stability, reliability and longer system lifetime for general PC usage as well as for improved overclocking performance.
