Atmel collaborates with H&D Wireless to deliver Embedded Wi-Fi Solution
Atmel Corporation, a specialist in touch- and microcontroller-based solutions, has announced it is collaborating with H&D Wireless to deliver an IEEE802.11b+g Wi-Fi solution for Atmel's 32-bit AVR microcontrollers. In this collaboration, H&D Wireless will provide the SPB104 Wi-Fi extension board, which is easily connected to the AVR32 UC3 evaluation kits through the SD card socket. This collaboration results in the industry's most power efficient Wi-Fi solution, with an overall power consumption five times lower than any other similar solution on the market...
While many of us remain to be convinced that 2010 is "the year of the Tablet," in this month's computer section we cover the launch of NVIDIA's next-generation Tegra processor. This is a microprocessor aimed fairly and squarely at the mobile computing segment, while still capable of 1080p HD video, fast browsing, support for Adobe Flash Player 10.1 acceleration, an immersive 3D user interface, and "days of battery life." If NVIDIA can solve its recent supply problems, 2010 could see the company directing a barrage of design innovation in several directions. You know the key NVIDIA code names: Ion, Fermi, Quadro, Tesla, and of course Tegra. Keep an eye out for them. In the meantime, there's more, much more, in our February issue.
