Advantech introduces SOM-A2552 system module

System-on-Module (SOM) is becoming an increasingly important design strategy, reducing costs and time-to-market. The SOM-A2552, from Advantech Co., Ltd., is a System-on-Module platform designed for high mobility, power-critical environments and low profile applications. SOM-A2552 features an ultra-low-power Intel PXA255 Central Processing Unit with an additional high performance multimedia chip, SM501, for mobility.

These SOM engines run with the Intel IXP 42X series, for better network connectivity in various applications, including mobile platforms, telemetrics, medical equipment, POS terminals, and human machine interfaces.

The SOM-A2552 has a pre-defined I/O-ready bus via a SoDIMM 200-pin interface, which offers easy integration and upgrading. The unit provides dual monitor displays with STN and TFT-type panel support. A boot option for on-board Flash or CFC makes maintenance easy and saves costs.

The Advantech SOM-A2552 comes in an OS-ready package for Windows CE.Net 4.2 or for Linux support. A kit is available for complete design-in support. An optional RISC CE-Builder assists customer image development. The 68 x 68 x 6.8 mm compact sized module offers a variety of reconfiguration options.
